Final call for BSIF and Offshore Safety Awards nominations

19 April 2016

The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) has issued a final call for entries for its 2016 Safety Awards. These awards are open to all in the industry who have shown real product innovation, exceptional customer service, and through safety excellence illustrate dedication to improving occupational health and safety. The entry deadline is 6th May 2016.

There are three award categories that companies can enter:

Product Innovation – This award is dedicated to new products that are contributing to improvements in the health and safety industry through their innovation. Last year this award was won by 3M for the Organic Vapour End of Service Life Indicator.

Service Awards – This award celebrates companies offering exceptional and innovative service solutions, voted for by the entrants’ own customers, ensuring that the accolade is a true reflection of the service given.  The 2015 winner was Capita Health Safety and Environmental Consultancy, scoring highly on all levels of service provision from administration and invoicing, day to day service delivery, account management, governance and service improvements.

Safety Excellence – Based upon case studies submitted by members, this award recognises major improvements in occupational safety created in 2015/6. Last year Brammer and the Royal Mint picked up the winner’s trophy for their success in reducing hand related injuries to zero.

Alan Murray, CEO of the BSIF, said: “To have the BSIF awards  held at Safety & Health Expo offers an excellent marketing opportunity for the award recipients - it is the ideal time to celebrate your company, our industry and its achievements.”

The entry deadline is 5pm on 6th May and the awards  presentation will take place at Safety & Health Expo at London ExCel on 21st June. For full information on how to enter and the judging criteria please visit www.bsif.co.uk or contact the BSIF directly on 01442 248744.

The Offshore Safety Awards, jointly organised by Oil & Gas UK and Step Change in Safety, have also put out a final call for entries.

The Awards, formerly known as the UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards, celebrate excellence in safety in the on and offshore industry, but with a twist.

With a fresh interactive format – which sees finalists creating videos, pitching and producing support posters – it will also provide opportunities to learn from each other, helping to make our industry as safe as it can possibly be.

Award categories are:
·  Safety Leadership
·  Safety Representative of the Year
·  Innovation in Safety
·  Workforce Engagement
·  Occupational Health
·  Sharing and Learning

Individual workers of companies can be nominated for an award. Each nomination form submitted will go to a panel of judges before the organisers announce three finalists, from each of the six award categories. The winner will be decided in the lead up to and on the day of the Offshore Safety Awards by the event attendees and the public, via a voting app.

Nominations are now open and sponsorship opportunities available. For more information please head to the website below.

Deadline for submissions is 26 April 2016, and the event will take place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre between 8am and 1.30pm on 31 May 2016.

Update: Due to the tragic helicopter crash off the coast of Norway on Friday 29th April 2016, the organisers of the Offshore Safety Awards have said they do not feel it is appropriate to host the event at this time and have rescheduled it for Wednesday 17 August 2016.
