Using Signaline FT-R for Fire Detection of Tank Storage

12 July 2016

Floating roof storage tanks are subject to significant height changes, UV sun radiation, oil and other aggressive chemicals, making them a complex area for effective fire detection. With a variety of alarm temperatures and two different gantry connection methods, Signaline Linear Heat Detection cable is a simple and cost-effective solution suitable even for hazardous areas.

The detection temperature of the cable should be at least 20°C higher than the anticipated tank ambient temperature. There are three different Signaline FT-R alarm temperatures to choose from; initiating alarms at 68°, 105°C and 185°C.

The Signaline FT-R range of cables have an anti-corrosive nylon coating making them resistant to UV and a wide range of fluids and chemicals.

Signaline FT-R is laid around the rim of the floating roof and there are two methods of connecting the Signaline FT-R cable to the fixed gantry installation at the top of the tank; Signaline Retractable Cables and Signaline Auto Cable Collector.

Signaline FT-R is UL approved and can be made EXia when protected with a galvanic isolator.
