Five killed in Guatemala metal plant explosion

At least five people were killed and four injured by a boiler explosion at a nickel processing plant in Guatemala, according to Hoy.com. The incident occurred at in the northern province of Izabal at the Guatemalan Nickel Company (CGN Pronico) mine in El Estor.

Pronico, a subsidiary of the Swiss Solway Group, operates the Fenix Project which includes a large nickel mine, power plant and metal processing facility. It began operations in 2014 and provides jobs for 1,770 employees and hundreds of local contractors, according to the company website.
