Three dead after Brazil drillship explosion

Three workers were killed after an explosion on board the NS-32 (Norbe VIII) drillship in the Marlim field in the Campos Basin off Brazil on June 9. One man was killed in the  explosion in one of the vessel’s boilers and two others succumbed to their injuries two days later. The drillship is one of six under charter from Odebrecht Oil & Gas (OOG) for client Petrobras.

One other worker was injured in the incident, but he has now been released from hospital.
There was no subsequent fire or production impact in the Marlim field, nor any risk of leakage, Petrobras said in a statement.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Brazilian authorities.
