A1. Moore Industries: STZ Functional Safety Dual-Input Smart HART Temperature Transmitter, with Associated IS Option

The newest member to the Moore Industries Associated Intrinsically-Safe (AIS) family of products is the SIL 2/3 capable STZ Functional Safety Dual Input Smart HART® DIN-style Temperature Transmitter with Associated IS sensor connections.  The STZ is certified by exida to IEC61508 for systematic integrity up to SIL 3 and for single use in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) up to SIL 2.  The STZ is designed and developed in strict compliance with IEC 61508 standards to provide the highest level of system integrity and reliability.

The intrinsically-safe -AIS option for the STZ-DIN allows direct connection of sensors located in hazardous locations by including an embedded intrinsically-safe barrier in the front end of the STZ-DIN.  The STZ-DIN -AIS is an associated apparatus suitable for mounting in Non-Hazardous or Class I, Division 2/Zone 2 hazardous locations with sensor input terminals connected to sensors or equipment in Class I, II, III, Division 1/Zone 0/1 hazardous locations.  Installation costs are reduced if an associated apparatus (STZ-DIN with -AIS option) is used, since the associated apparatus includes the barrier in the receiving device.  There is no need for the additional cost of the IS barrier, cabinet space, high integrity clean ground connection, separate power supply, or custom vendor backplanes. 

The STZ-DIN configures quickly and easily to accept a single or dual input from a wide array of sensors and analog devices including RTDs, thermocouples, resistance and potentiometer devices, and direct millivolt inputs.  This 2-wire (loop-powered) Associated IS transmitter provides an isolated and linear 4-20mA output proportional to the input. This signal is ready for direct interface with HART or non-HART based Safety System, DCS, PLC and other computer-based SCADA systems.  The Universal mounting bracket easily snaps on and off of 35mm Top Hat DIN-rails and standard relay tracks.

A2.  Beijer Electronics: X2 extreme HMIs

The X2 extreme operator panels deliver on all the claims you can raise to rugged HMIs. They perform in rugged environments and hazardous areas where gases, vapors and dust are present. Extended environmental capabilities include operating temperatures from -30°C to +70°C, high vibrations and high-pressure wash-downs. X2 extreme panels are certified by all major classification societies including extended classes of marine certifications and provide UL Class I Div 2, ATEX Zone 2, ATEX Zone 22, IECEx Ex nA IIC Gc, IEC 60079-0, IEC 60079-15 certifications for safe operation in hazardous locations.

Fully sealed versions with M12 connectors hold IP66, NEMA 4X/12 and UL Type 4X/12 ingress protection rating for the entire product and conform to ATEX Zone 2 and ATEX Zone 22 certification. With the fully sealed versions, no additional enclosure is needed and the product can be placed directly in rugged environments.

X2 extreme is supported by iX HMI software and the new WARP Engineering Studio for top-class graphics, almost limitless connectivity and integrated automation solutions.


A3. Scotload: Smartload

Scotload’s ground-breaking SmartLoad wireless monitoring technology provides users with total system control and flexibility.

SmartLoad uniquely incorporates intelligence and memory directly on the load cell itself. Increasing functionality while enhancing the efficiency and safety of your lifting operations.
SmartLoad delivers a standard technology platform for use across a range of products. Requiring only one handset to connect links, shackles and other load cells, it reduces operational costs. Fully compatible with existing equipment, SmartLoad can also be retrofitted, removing the need for expensive full system upgrades.

Utilising the latest wireless technology for increased range and improved signal reliability, SmartLoad provides assurance, improves data accuracy and enhances workplace safety as well as reducing downtime.

SmartLoad wireless technology is also now zone 2 and zone 1 hazardous area approved.

A4. Ion Science: Cub personal VOC detector

World’s smallest, lightest, personal VOC detector!

Cub is a personal VOC detector with photoionisation detection (PID) technology for the fast, accurate detection of volatile organic compounds, keeping you safe within your working environment.

With market leading parts-per-billion (ppb) sensitivity, Cub sets the standard in personal gas monitoring giving an early warning of exposure to hazardous gases.

Comfortable and unobtrusive to wear, Cub sits within the breathing zone and is the smallest, lightest, personal VOC detector available. Cub has a dynamic range of 0 to 5000 ppm – the widest on the market – measuring 480 selectable compounds.

When worker exposure exceeds pre-set limits Cub’s audible, vibrating and flashing LED alarms alert you to the gases present. Readings are displayed on its bright, back-lit LCD display with selectable data logging time.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority said: “We take the health & safety of employees very seriously. With the high volume of petrochemical processing and handling in the port, we have been searching for a high quality yet cost effective PID instrument that would help protect staff from exposure to dangerous levels of VOCs.

“Every employee of the Port Authority working in the port area now wears a Cub personal PID that will give an early warning of the presence of hazardous vapours or gases.
