BSI puts novel masks to the test

Tests by BSI Product Services have proved that the new Cam Lock FAST-mask with Cowl complies with EN529:2005. It offers the highest protection factor of any currently available product, and it remains 100% effective when used by persons with facial hair.

EN529 requires a maximum assigned protection factor of 2,000 at an average breathing rate of 40 litres per minute of air. The mask achieved a factor of 1.6 million at an average breathing rate of 60 litres per minute of air.
BSI also carried out flame and thermal radiation tests, to verify all aspects of the product’s performance to EN136:1998 Class3 for Fire Fighting use.
