“The USA boasts excellent wind resources, and Vestas is pleased to be playing an active role in the utilisation of its wind potential. Not only will the 44 wind turbines be a source of clean and renewable energy, they will also contribute to the creation of new local jobs,” said Jens Søby, President of Vestas Americas.
In 2007, over 5,200 MW of new wind generating capacity was put in place in the USA, representing a growth of 45% on the previous year. In the first quarter of 2008, a total of 1,400 MW of new wind power capacity worth approximately USD 3bn was installed according to the American Wind Energy Association.
