Aluminium enclosures come to hand
31 July 2008
HandCase enclosures from Rolec now feature externally accessible battery compartments and are manufactured from die-cast aluminium rather than the ABS plastic typically used for such products. These IP66 enclosures have been designed for mobile handheld electronics destined for use in harsh environmental conditions, either indoors in outdoors.

Typical applications will include test and measurement equipment, machine and robot controllers, detection equipment and data logging units. They are very robust and offer a high degree of EMC shielding, which can be especially useful for RF equipment.
Assemblies consist of three separate die castings - the top, base and battery compartment lid - plus two moulded TPE sealing gaskets and four screw gaskets. The cases are assembled by four corrosionproof stainless-steel M3 screws. Three standard sizes are offered with external dimensions of 180 x 80 x 42, 220 x 100 x 42 and 220 x 100 x 62mm. The two smaller sizes are supplied with an integral battery compartment for four 1.5V AA cells or two 9V cells.
