Wireless solutions delivered to process industries

Invensys Process Systems (IPS) has become part of the Motorola’s PartnerSelect Program and will now offer Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility solutions, as well as wireless broadband and other technologies within its own Industrial Wireless Solutions portfolio, to help integrate and improve process manufacturing systems for its industrial clients.

IPS serves clients in the chemical, oil and gas, energy and utilities, pharmaceutical, and pulp and paper markets. IPS will provide an enterprise WLAN portfolio including WiFi access points with Haz-location Class 1, Div 2 and ATEX Zone 2 certification, WLAN switches and Wireless Intrusion Protection System; The MOTOwi4 wireless portfolio, which includes Canopy, WiMAX, Mesh Solutions and backhaul and Motorola’s RF Management Suite for network management.

According to Harry Forbes, a Senior Analyst with Boston-based ARC Advisory Group, a top industry analyst firm, wireless for process manufacturing will become a more-than-$1 billion business during the next five years, driven by the increasing use of global standards and by partnerships like this between IPS and Motorola that simplify the wireless value chain for process manufacturers.
