Fire and explosion at Indian beer production facility injures two

Two people were injured in an explosion and fire on November 29 at a beer factory in an industrial area of Pithampur, central India. According to the Times of India, workers had been welding inside the plant when the incident occurred.

The Times reports that sparks from welding fell on a boiler, causing an explosion and large fire to spread. It took firefighters around two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Local police confirmed that workers had been trying to repair machines and accessories and had been conducting welding work when the initial explosion happened.

The fire spread throughout the factory and two workers were taken to a nearby hospital with burns.

An investigation into the incident has begun.
