Power plant explosion kills six people in China

An explosion killed six people at a power plant in eastern China on April 7. The incident happened while workers were carrying out welding tasks on a tank in Chuzhou city of Anhui province.

The explosion at the thermal power plant happened at around 10:00 local time and killed one person instantly. Five others were injured after the explosion blew the workers off the top of the five-metre high tank where the welding work was being conducted. All five later died in hospital.

According to Anhui Province's emergency management department, the welding work was being conducted in order to plug a leaking tank.
