UL is now a UK Approved Body for products used in hazardous locations
30 September 2021
Beginning January 2021, the UKCA marking applies also to Products used or installed in Hazardous Locations which are currently subject to the CE marking. Electrical products for Usage in Zone 0 and 1 and non-electrical for Zone 0 will require a certificate from an approved UKCA body. A Manufacturing Quality Audit will also be required from a UKCA approved Body.

UL received the accreditation and successfully expanded its UK Approved Body scope to cover the assessment of Equipment Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations. This is the equivalent to the ATEX Directive in the EU. UL International (U.K.) Ltd is now a UK Approval Body for UKCA.
The accreditation enhanced our portfolio and enables UL to evaluate and certify products to the specific U.K. requirements that ensure safe use within hazardous locations. To learn more about the specific requirements, check out our regular updated FAQs.
Note: Certificates issued from UL International Demko A/S (Notified Body Number: 0539) will be unaffected and still valid for use in the EU. This includes projects managed from the UK.
