Chemical plant explosion kills four, injures three in China

Four people were killed and three others were injured following an explosion at a chemical plant in China’s autonomous Inner Mongolia region. The incident happened at around 23:00 local time in the Bayan Obo industrial park near Alxa League in the southwest of the region.

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, the blast caused a fire to break out which was later extinguished. A representative of the company, which is yet to be named, has been arrested and all production has been stopped, Xinhua reports.

The regional government has put together a team to conduct an investigation to find the cause of the blast.
