Design experience brings on Ex approved range

The name Klippon has long been synonymous with the supply of terminals and enclosures for use in both industrial and hazardous area markets. Under the guidance of parent company Weidmüller, the latest range of Ex certified equipment is now on the world markets.
Klippon enclosure system
Klippon is a trade name of the international Weidmüller Group of companies which has sales, production facilities and agents in over 70 countries world-wide. The Weidmüller Group employs over 2,600 personnel world-wide and in 2005 had a turnover of 385 Million Euros. Weidmüller started manufacturing enclosures in the 1960s.
Since then our reputation as a competent and reliable partner has been demonstrated on many occasions and this is reinforced by our innovatively designed products that meet the most demanding market requirements. This experience has been utilised in the design of the new TB Range, which has been built to withstand the harshest environments. This range of enclosures offers improved on-site accessibility coupled with many more design improvements. The Klippon TB Range delivers outstanding performance in the severest offer component approval and certification against the newly released IEC / EN 60079 series of standards, which finally present a harmonised approach to the design and construction of equipment intended for use in Hazardous Areas.
Oil, gas and petrochemicals
Applications placed into harsh or hazardous environments require an approval. The Klippon TB range of enclosures are certified to a variety of international standards including the latest European ATEX 94/9/EG and IECEx standards. These enclosures are typically used in instrumentation and control applications and are ideally suited to meet the demanding needs of the petrochemical industries.
Power industry
Designed to meet the quality and high standards demanded by the Power industry (Power generation and distribution). The enclosures are suitable for low voltage distribution, lighting and instrumentation applications.

The Weidmuller designed dust channel
Weidmüller Klippon TB enclosures are also ideally suited for a variety of industrial applications where control, measurement or power connections are required. For demanding environments these enclosures offer a high ingress protection and an impact resistance of up to 10 Joules. The pad-lockable designed door offers both easy access and enhanced product security.

The demand for mobility in our society is growing constantly. Both our enclosures and our reliable connection technologies have long been supplied to the transportation industry. Suitable for use in applications such as shipping, rolling stock, commercial vehicles and trackside applications, including signaling systems within the transport networks of major cities around the world.
Configuration software
With our RailDesigner software you are much more flexible: This design program enables you to configure individual enclosures by simply selecting the enclosure type from our standard range. You can add drill holes and adapt the enclosure to suit your needs. Furthermore you can incorporate it into your CAD program and create labels via an export interface with the Weidmüller M-Print PRO software which can be printed out with our PrintJet.
Features
Compression control with silicone gaskets Gasket compression control has been incorporated throughout the design of the enclosure. Over compression of gaskets leads to the collapse of the cellular structure and results in loss of the IP rating. The Klippon TB features abroad lip around the aperture of the box. This eliminates knife-edge contact, preventing damage to the cellular structure of the gasket. Silicone gasket material is standard across the New Klippon TB range; offering improved temperature characteristics and resistance to chemical attack.
The pillar location
Moisture and dust channel
The moisture and dust channel runs around the aperture of the body of the enclosure. This ensures that any debris or moisture present on the surface of the enclosure will not enter the enclosure when the lid is
opened.
Internal pillar location
The position of the clamp has been optimised to allow the greatest size of mounting plate assembly rail to be utilised, whilst still allowing full accessibility for tooling. In addition, the diameter of the pillar has been increased, offering greater clamping stability.
The dimensions of the Gland Plates have been optimised to allow the greatest number of entries for the size of the enclosure. Weidmüller offers gland plates in 3mm thick material as standard and 6mm as an option for applications where tapped entries are required. The new Klippon TB range of enclosures is available with 1, 2, 3 or 4 gland plates. The gland plates incorporate rounded corners offering protection against injury.
Hinges
The hinge pin is designed to prevent accidental removal of the lid whilst allowing removal without the need for tooling. Captive hinge pins prevent loose parts being lost in the field. The hinge system also allows the lid to be opened by up to 170 degrees, for ease of access Earth studs Earth studs are equipped with a sealing mechanism and are keyed to prevent rotation. M10 internal or external earth stud are fitted as standard. Options of M12, M14 and M16 are also available Identification label holder A drop-in Label Holder is available as an option, incorporating features to locate and retain the label once it has been inserted. This feature allows labels to be retro-fitted by user’s onsite post installation without compromising the ingress protection of the enclosure. An information panel indicates the ATEX markings, the box serial numbers and its maximum dissipated power.
