Local officials said that the driver of the tanker survived the explosion, however an employee at the plant died at the scene. The truck belonged to a private company and was taking delivery of lubricants that had been produced by Lubrica.

The plant was evacuated shortly after the explosion while firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze. Officials said there was no risk to the local environment. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the blast.

Lubrica was founded in 1996 and specialises in the manufacture of motor, industrial and special oils.
