Air shut-off valve protects larger engines in hazardous areas

16 October 2008

Amot has produced a hazardous area version of the 250mm (10in) SpeedTrap 4261 emergency air shut-off valve to protect its larger power generation engines.
Needed for oil and gas platform engines on hazardous area duties, the new valve is ATEX approved EX II 3G EExna IIC T4, Zone II. An ATEX approved solenoid is controlled by a special electronic control module preventing too much surface temperature.

The version maintains the tight shut-off and prevents the dangers of engine runaway and self-destruction caused by a diesel’s potential to burn hydrocarbon vapours or other combustible matter, even after its fuel source has been closed.
