Hazardex in the Regions 2023 Presentation - Working towards a zero harm legacy
23 August 2023
The ECITB is the industry-led skills body for the Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) in Great Britain. The accident rate in engineering construction is lower than in the broader construction industry, however, the fact remains that, as an industry, we have not achieved ‘zero harm’.
Health and safety training is one of the key contributors to the reduction of accidents and ill-health across the engineering construction industry over the last 30 years.
Organisations must ensure their workers hold the requisite skills and knowledge through quality-assured training to continue to reduce the number of work-related fatalities and injuries in our sector.
As we strive towards Net Zero we must work towards a zero harm legacy. Anything else will tarnish the achievement of the energy transition. Priority MUST be given to protecting the workforce.
The ECITB has just released the eighth evolution of our CCNSG Safety Passport programme which has been running now for 30 years. The new version covers new fire extinguisher updates, isolation procedures and testing for stored energy, alongside greater emphasis on equality in the workplace and mental health issues.
