Sensor for extreme motorsport applications

26 January 2009

Variohm Eurosensor has launched a 28 mm diameter angle sensor, the Euro-X, aimed specifically at arduous high-duty cycle position feedback applications in all areas of motorsports such as sequential gearbox, throttle and suspension measurement.

With a factory programmable range from 0 to 360 degrees and a 12-bit positioning resolution, the race-proven Euro-X uses a completely non-contacting Hall effect and magnet design for maximum durability against shock and vibration. The non-contact design scores favourably over wear prone potentiometer feedback devices - the fully sealed and IP67 rated sensor is virtually maintenance-free. The temperature specification covers a working range of -40 ºC to +125 ºC with a short term upper rating of +150 ºC.

The standard sensor has a 5V DC supply and 0.5V - 4.5 V ratiometric output with redundancy as an option, but alternative PWM and SPI output versions are available.
