SH Lighting appointed UK distributor

03 February 2009

SH Lighting have announced their appointment by Quintex (Germany) as UK distributor for their high quality Ex Line Bushing product range.
Formed in 2006, Quintex was formed by a select group of well-respected industry innovators following a major reorganisation within Europe’s largest Hazardous area manufacturer Bartec.

In order to maintain market stability and ensure optimum quality, the new team combined their specialist and extensive technical and market knowledge in Trace Heating, Line Bushings and Pressure controller design and manufacturing and continued to produce these new products in Germany.

The comprehensive range of Quintex quality Line bushings are currently being used across industry, to electrically connect equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. The connection is always established either between a flameproof enclosure and an enclosure of another type of protection in accordance with DIN EN 60079-0. Extensively, two flameproof enclosures are connected. Thus ensuring cables are protected from direct contact.

By varying the design, Line Bushings can also be used in intrinsically safe, measuring, control or in energy circuits.

Line Bushings that do not feature cables, can be used to seal flameproof enclosures of the “d“ type of protection and if systems are to be extended at a later time, Line Bushings containing cables can quickly be used to replace the existing, sealed ones.

The Quintex range of Line Bushings will now be available to the UK market directly from SH Lighting for use with Ex d and Ex i protection methods as well as those required for safe area applications.

Quintex line bushings are available in two designs: Screwable and Pluggable.

The default sizes of Screwable Line Bushings range from M10 to M42 with custom designed housings being available to meet specific requirements.

If other sizes are required for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, they need to be discussed with certification bodies. With the ‘Pluggable’ variant, sizes are adjusted to those of common sockets.

Gary Ashburner, Managing Director of SH Lighting said: “ We are delighted to be working with the Directors of Quintex in general and with their Line Bushing division in particular. Line bushings are crucial safety components and choosing products with a recognised reliable quality is absolutely essential. We are proud to add this range of products to our expanding Ex offering.”

Ashburner then went on to explain how Line Bushings from Quintex differ from their competitors. “State of the art CNC controlled laser technology reduces tooling costs and allows for the production of small batch quantities and prototypes as well as high volume production runs on short lead times. Another essential feature of the Quintex Line Bushing range is the high adhesion of cast resin on cables. In this aspect, Quintex relies on its vast experience and are not willing to compromise: radox cables are high-temperature resistant and are proved to be very adhesive. The cast resin used in Quintex line bushings is a certified ‘future-proof’ cast resin, which means that it complies fully with forthcoming legislation regarding the toxicity of resins.

Since their inception Quintex have built an enviable reputation for supplying a range of high quality Ex products to blue chip organisations in the avionics industry as well as the majority of Hazardous Area equipment manufacturers throughout Europe. SH Lighting, with their complimentary experience in specialist field of Hazardous area systems and equipment, are now able to offer complete technical and stock support for UK based OEM organisations.
