Baseefa has appointed its first representative in South East Asia with the signing of a vastly-experienced electrical and instrument engineer based in Singapore.
Wong Hon Cheng has held senior posts in project, instrument and refining engineering over the past 10 years, and gained an MSc in International Construction Management at Nanyang Technological University in 2005. He now becomes Baseefa’s Business Development Manager and Training Advisor for the South East Asia region.
Ron Sinclair, managing director of Baseefa, said: “We have always had a number of customers in South East Asia, and Hon Cheng’s appointment will enable us to develop and service them and find new ones in this part of the world.
“Initially, he will be working mainly in Singapore and Malaysia, but places like Cambodia and Vietnam have fast-developing markets, and in time we expect Hon Cheng to develop these. In addition to developing new business, Hon Cheng will also liaise with our existing customers in the region.”
Hon Cheng agreed: “China, India, and South East Asia all are fast-expanding markets. The demand for energy, chemicals and biomedical has been growing rapidly in recent years as Asian economies continue to develop at different paces. We see tremendous opportunities and challenges for Baseefa in the Asia/Pacific region.
“Besides the shaping of industry standards, the staff at Baseefa has extensive knowledge of their application in many areas. I am heartened to be associated with an industry leader such as Baseefa, and I am looking eagerly forward to work with them.”
