Female ATEX flameproof gland range

19 February 2009

Kopex International’s electrical conduit systems for hazardous areas now include female versions of the HAM, HAMM and HAMS ranges of ATEX flameproof glands. The glands are approved for use in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 hazardous area classifications and designed for use in conjunction with Kopex Liquid Tight flexible metallic conduits.

The HAM female gland will complement the range and, when used with existing male HAM glands, will allow for the safe transition of cables from zones into safe areas without loss of Ex certification. The gland can be fitted to an enclosure with a male thread already exiting the box, without the need to re-test the enclosure, since the female gland will be approved as a piece of equipment.

With a nylon seal and epoxy resin, the female gland is a high quality, high specification product available in brass, metal coated and stainless steel. It is approved for areas where either gas or dust may be present and has both EExd flameproof and EExe safety protection certification. It operates within a temperature range for -60º c to +80ºc. IP66 ingress protection is provided.
