Profibus conference has water industry theme

07 April 2009

Water industry applications will be a major theme in the 2009 Profibus & Profinet User Conference, scheduled for 16-17th June this year at the Stratford Manor conference centre. This multi-stream event enables new or potential users to choose lectures that offer an explanation of the base technology - through to the use of Profibus techniques in real world industrial and water industry applications.

Parallel workshop sessions include full audience participation and hands-on experience, and there is also an Exhibition of equipment from relevant suppliers.

The full programme has now been published and includes an introduction to the current market situation by John Morse of IMS Research. Andy Verwer then explains the key decisions that face managers and system designers when approaching a Profibus project, and provides an overview of the important strategic decisions that must be made at the early stages of design. From Yorkshire Water, Christopher Howard and Adrian Wilkinson will explain the Profibus Applications and Maintenance Strategies adopted within YWS, and how these have evolved.

Mark Cargill, of Enpure, will discuss how to extend an existing Profibus network, based on the many water industry projects he has now completed. The practicalities of testing and commissioning Profibus sites from a water company perspective will be discussed by Graham Lowe, of United Utilities.

Full details of the conference, the lecture programme and the topics to be covered in the hands-on workshops can be found on the Conference website , where there is also a reservation form to book a place at the event.
