Product innovation award won

28 May 2009

Polyco has been awarded the prestigious BSIF Product Innovation Award for its knitted cut level 5 glove, Metallica. The award was announced by David Lummis of the BSIF at the Awards Presentation on the opening day of the Safety &Health Expo 2009.

The awards were presented at the Products & Innovations Hub, with a high standard of finalists attending. The 12 finalists had to meet stringent criteria, reflecting the highest standards of innovation and excellence in improving occupational health & safety, and it was therefore with great pleasure that Bernard Garvey, Polyco’s Technology Director, accepted the award.

“We are extremely pleased with the award, it is a tremendous accolade,” commented Garvey. “We developed Metallica as an easy to use alternative to the widely used chainmail gloves, to be used in industries where high level cut resistance and dexterity is equally important. Using a unique technology to create a lightweight but robust design, Metallica has proven to be a great success and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised by such a respected industry body”.

There were six awards given for the category of Product Innovation. Keytools received a Highly Commended award with its Cleankeys innovation, as did JSP with its Necprotech product. The three Commended Awards went to Centurion Safety Products, Sperian Protection and Kimberly-Clark Professional for their entries.
