The headquarters, in a brand new environmentally optimised 25,000 m² building housing over 500 employees, integrates Yokogawa operations which previously occupied separate sites in Amersfoort and nearby Houten and Apeldoorn, as well as departments including a gas chromatography application laboratory and a test & measurement calibration centre.

Guest speakers at the opening ceremony included Mrs. A. van Vliet-Kuiper, Mayor of Amersfoort, His Excellency Mr. M. Shibuya, Japanese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. R. Robbertsen, Queens Commissioner for the Province of Utrecht, and Mr. B. Pulles, Ministry of Economic Affairs. From Yokogawa, presentations were made by Mr. S. Kaihori, President of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, and Mr. Harry Hauptmeijer, President of Yokogawa Europe.

In addition to being the sales and marketing focus for the worldwide Yokogawa organisation within Europe, the building provides demonstration, testing and staging facilities for Yokogawa’s customers to evaluate and analyse systems prior to final commissioning. In addition, it houses manufacturing facilities for process analysers as well as a global response centre and hot standby capabilities.

In his opening presentation, Harry Hauptmeijer, President of Yokogawa Europe, commented: “The philosophy for the new European headquarters is to combine efficiency, high technology and innovation with a big emphasis on Yokogawa’s ‘Sun’ symbol throughout. From a business point of view, it will help us to continue to provide the openness and transparency, customer friendliness and teamwork that our customers expect – not just for today but also for the long-term future.”
