One week to the Profibus User Conference!

10 June 2009

One week away from the Profibus and Profinet User conference near Stratford on Avon in the UK, and the event is set to be another great success, with many international participants and a good spread of delegates from all industries. Please read on

This year Profibus celebrates 20 years since its introduction, and it has justifiably earned its place as the major intelligent automation communications system used across the world.

Last year Jorg Freitag (PI Chairman) enthused that "With more than 25 million installed devices - probably more than all other rival systems combined - Profibus now dominates all sectors of industrial automation". The number of Profibusnodes increased by over 5million in one year to June 2008, and a similar growth will probably be announced for the last 12 months, at this conference.

Last year the UK conference outgrew the original venue, used for the first four years, and moved to the Stratford Manor Hotel, 5 minutes from junction 15 of the M40, and within easy reach of Birmingham International Airport. Here the excellent facilities and space available allowed for considerable expansion. After excellent feedback from delegates and suppliers attending last year's event, as published on the conference website, this year promises to be an excellent event.

Totally user-focused, the 2009 event will take place on 16 & 17 June, and consist of three separate streams of activity: a conference giving presentations of technology developments, applications and user experience; a workshop hands-on session allowing practical experience with live systems; and an exhibition of the best equipment in the field, involving most of the major suppliers in the industry with demo systems and experienced engineers.

While there is still time to register attendance at the event, a major feature offered by the presenters is that questions can be submitted in advance, so that these will hopefully be covered in the presentations. If not, Profibus UK will ensure that the answers are forthcoming in later discussions.
