Man overboard solutions
15 June 2009
Mobilarm will be showing one of its solutions for improving marine workplace safety, especially in relation to man overboard (MOB) at Offshore Europe 2009. Mobilarm’s solutions are designed to enable a fast rescue.
Mobilarm Crewsafe is a wireless safety network that provides marine employee safety and security through crew location monitoring and by automatically initiating a network-wide alert to all personnel within seconds of an incident occurring.
It is an active crew monitoring and reporting system that immediately detects emergency events, providing a GPS waypoint, range and bearing in order to facilitate a quick, effective rescue of the person in the water. Additional features of the system include covert and overt alarm capability, paging of groups or individuals, location monitoring, individual duress alarm and manual alarm activation.
All crew wear a Tag which communicates wirelessly with a management console located on the bridge via a series of sensor routers installed in key areas of the vessel. If communication with any Tag is lost, which occurs if it is submerged in water the system automatically logs a waypoint and quickly raises the alarm.
Mobilarm has developed the Crewsafe network infrastructure to be used for more than just a man overboard safety system. Crewsafe offers additional security and communication functionality, such as crew location monitoring, covert alarm capability, crew paging, First Aid training, rescue asset and safety equipment management. Future versions of the product are planned to incorporate bio-metric monitoring and gas detection.
