Safety in hazardous areas

06 July 2009

Turck Banner has introduced a range of solutions for use in hazardous areas: a comprehensive RFID system for ex areas including the first intrinsically safe data carriers (tags) which allow numerous applications even in zone 1 – from coupling surveillance to labeling of proprietary plant components to the maintenance of drill pipes.

All inductive, capacitive, and magnetic field sensors with standardised Namur output are now approved for dust zone 20 and gas zone 1 – many even up to zone 0. All sensors mentioned are approved for use in safety-related applications up to SIL2, in accordance with IEC 61508. Turck Banner is now offering sensors with the innovative TC terminal chamber concept and expanded temperature range (-40 to 100 °C) in the IP68/69K protection class.
