Transmitter reduces cost of hazardous area temperature measurement & display

04 November 2009

Beka have introduced a HART enabled, field mounting, ATEX and IECEx Ex n certified indicating temperature transmitter with an isolated intrinsically safe sensor input.

The BA474ND may be installed in a Zone 2 or 21 hazardous area and directly connected to a resistance thermometer, thermocouple or voltage source in Zone 0, 1, 2,20, 21 or 22 without the need for Zener barriers or galvanic isolators, thus significantly reducing equipment and installation costs.

Incorporating a 20mm high five digit display plus a 31 segment bargraph, the BA474ND provides both a large easy to read local display and directly transmits an accurate 4/20mA and HART digital output to the safe area. Housed in a robust IP66 GRP enclosure with an armoured glass window and separate terminal compartment, the transmitter is suitable for use in harsh industrial and offshore environments.

Accessories include a loop powered display backlight, dual alarms, pipe mounting kits and etched stainless steel tag plate.
