Following a competitive tender, Hertel will provide safety valve and control valve overhaul services for maintenance and unit shutdowns on site from a dedicated valve repair centre.
Hertel will provide support and input for initial pre-turnaround planning, in addition to carrying out the work. The company is currently working on the refinery’s hydrocracker plant overhaul.
In addition, Hertel will aim to reduce spare parts on site by using real-time data relating to valve maintenance and repair and using it in conjunction with the asset teams to reduce stock holding, increase production efficiency and plant availability.
On completion of the first three years, the contract includes an opportunity to extend the work in two one year options.
Steve Biddle, valve workshop manager at Hertel, said: "We are now well-positioned to provide a range of site-wide integrated services including maintenance and project related services.
"Our offering of expert, flexible services means we can assist Ineos in achieving their business goals, helping to improve processes and operations, increase the reliability of assets and drive efficiency."
Hertel has been on the Grangemouth refinery for eight years and has been an active member of the Grangemouth Contractors Safety Alliance (GCSA) for this time.
