Safety improved and air leaks prevented in laboratories and clean rooms

A leading Bury based safety seal specialist is launching a product range for air tight laboratories and clean rooms after tripling its sales in the sector over the last year.
Swedish owned Roxtec is a world leader in providing innovative cable and pipe seals which protect buildings, equipment and people from hazards such as fire, water and explosion.
It has seen sales of its ‘super seals’ spike in the research laboratories sector this year as organisations seek to improve safety and prevent air leaks.
Roxtec’s UK managing director Graham O’Hare said it has developed a range of bespoke laboratory products after working extensively in the sector.
"Biological and chemical labs and clean rooms are by their very nature hazardous," he said. "So Roxtec’s products help ensure that the services entering the clean or contained structure are properly airtight and sealed. The seals cover all cables and pipes passing into the lab areas including power, data, lighting, communications, door entry, security, water, gas and drainage where they pass through the containment structure. Roxtec’s seals are one of only a few products capable of maintaining a gas tight seal in both negative and positive pressure environments."
O’Hare said Roxtec is keen to work with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineers who want to provide better protection to clean room customers.
"Clients of CL3 and CL4 level labs are asking for high levels of air pressure performance to achieve validation," O’Hare said. "A number of traditional sealing products cannot easily achieve the pressure levels required to be safe. Roxtec seals pass these tests easily."
