IChemE signs MoU with NSAPI and Cogent

IChemE has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Skills Academy for Process Industries (NSAPI) and Cogent, the Sector Skills Council for chemicals, nuclear, oil and gas, petroleum and polymers.

The MoU, which outlines mutual opportunities to promote skills and workforce development in the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and polymers industries, was signed by the chief executive of each organisation at the IChemE 2009 awards ceremony in York, UK.
IChemE chief executive, David Brown said : "IChemE, Cogent and NSAPI have a common interest in the promotion of careers in the chemical and associated industries and in the establishment and maintenance of standards of training, education and qualifications.
"Working together, the three organisations intend to build on their expertise to enhance skills development within the chemicals and related process industries, and to promote the opportunities for employment in the field."
The MoU cites the alignment of IChemE professional status with Cogent's Gold Standard for world class performance as a key opportunity, particular in the promotion of Eng Tech status as a career pathway, and the development of an offering to meet the needs of this growing division.
