Issues such as leadership, competence and workforce involvement were identified as some of the areas where action will deliver real improvements across all sectors of the economy. So what has happened since the launch? You will hear from Gordon MacDonald, HSE's Director of Hazardous Installations, how industry has responded, what has been achieved and what more is expected from stakeholders. You will also hear how HSE has been shaping its response to the challenges laid down in the strategy. Gordon will also place these issues in the context of the current pressures of the economic cycle, the prospects of recovery and some of the health and safety implications of the shift to a low carbon economy.

This paper will be presented at HazardEx 2010
