Controllers for Zone 2 and Zone 22 applications

04 December 2009

Burkert’s 8792/8793 SideControl units are versatile, robust and easy- to- use positioners/process controllers designed for flexible mounting onto linear and rotary actuators, and also Burkert process valves. The intelligent positioner is flexible and suitable for a wide range of applications and can be attached directly to an actuator.

It can also be used as a remote mounted version and installed in a separate control enclosure. Thanks to its compact and robust IP65/IP67- rated aluminium housing, the SideControl 8792 is ideally suited for use in ATEX zones 2/22. When configured as a process controller (type 8793) with automatic process value evaluation and automated parameterisation, the device is the ideal solution for decentralised process control with optional simultaneous feedback to the plant control level.

The design of the 8792 employs 3-wire technology, reducing the cost of the controller compared to comparable devices based on 2-wire technology. The positioner’s wide control pressure range, of 1.4 to 7 bar, and the high air flow range of 7 to 100 Nl/min or 150 Nl/min, make the SideControl 8792 extremely versatile, enabling users to reduce their stock of different controllers to a minimum. This cut in inventory costs is complemented by the 8792’s ability to reduce operating costs, as the controller consumes no control air once in its steady position.

The 8792 positioner offers a comprehensive range of functions, and can be easily operated using a large backlit graphic display.
