Univar expands in Nordics with Shell branded lubricants
This agreement is fully in line with Univar’s strategy, as a sales and marketing company, of targeted growth in strategically important markets. The arrangement with Shell is in the process of being approved by the necessary regulatory authorities and is expected to be effective in the second quarter of 2010.
Univar has been a market leader in the Nordic market for many years, serving customers in a wide range of industrial applications ranging from oil and gas through to food and pharmaceutical products from its local sites in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden. Shell Lubricants manufacture and blend products for use in a range of applications, from consumer motoring to mining and from power generation to commercial transport. The company has an excellent brand position in the region and its brands, product technology, operational excellence and global reach help to make Shell the first choice for customers around the world.
Univar will begin stocking Shell branded products in its local warehouses as well investing to establish a new central hub in Gothenburg. To ensure the continued first class service to customers and technical development expertise, for which Shell Lubricants are renowned, personnel will also be transferring to Univar when the deal completes.
John van Osch, President Univar EMEA, commented: "We are looking forward to welcoming the Shell Lubricants Nordics people to join our high-performance team. Their competences, expertise and know-how will be invaluable in strengthening our market leadership in the Nordics."
"Shell is an innovative and premier producer of lubricants so we are proud to have been selected to sell, market and distribute the high quality products of this world-class manufacturer. This agreement is a good match that should help boost business for both companies," said Ola Tengroth, regional director Nordics, Univar Europe.
