Dust explosion containment

08 December 2009

Rembe has launched the Q-Rohr-3 and Q-BOX which guarantee indoor dust explosion containment, as well as being maintenance-free, with no measureable operating costs, providing great economic benefits when compared with active suppression systems.

The Q-Rohr-3 and Q-Box II consist of an integrated Rembe circular or rectangular explosion vent panel which vents the explosion wave in a controlled manner into the Q-Rohr-3 or Q-Box II internal chamber. Flame gases with temperatures higher than 1,500°C are cooled down to less than 90°C via energy transfer within the special stainless steel mesh filter inlet. This leads to a reduction of the expanding gas volume as it extinguishes the flame. The pressure rise and high noise level associated with a free vented explosion are reduced to negligible levels. The specially developed stainless steel mesh filter guarantees that no burned or unburned dust passes through the Q-Rohr-3 or Q-Box II. Both devices are re-usable immediately after cleaning and replacement of the explosion panel.
