Seven year maintenance contract at Stanlow refinery

17 December 2009

Industrial services company Hertel has agreed a five plus two year maintenance contract with Shell UK covering the Stanlow refinery in Cheshire.

The contract is for maintenance services including insulation, scaffolding and painting as well as civil and mechanical engineering activities.

Hertel has worked at the Stanlow refinery for more than 24 years and has more than 500 employees on site.

David Fitzsimons, managing director of Hertel UK and Ireland, said: "The new contract is a demonstration of the close working relationship we have developed with Shell UK."
"Our dedicated on-site management presence has helped us to gain a deeper understanding of the refinery's needs and means we can react quickly."

"We are also involved in the planning of maintenance, which enables us to be pro- active in supporting the smooth operation of the refinery and ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum."
A major overhaul programme of a number of production units will start in January 2010.
