Microsonic ultrasonic sensors for use in harsh environments

The Microsonic range of ultrasonic measurement and proximity sensors have the flexibility offered by advanced parameter setting to solve the most awkward of applications in harsh environments. The ultrasonic sensors thrive in harsh, dirty environments where other sensors cannot be considered due to their use of ultrasound.

The principle of ultrasonic measurement using sound waves enable the sensors to detect virtually all materials which reflect sound regardless of colour or texture, without being affected by dust laden air or ink mists.

The photograph features a Microsonic mic-600 sensor with 6m range operating in a cement silo to control level. The deposits of cement dust on the sensor membrane do not impair its operation and the fact that the membrane vibrates to produce the sound wave means that the unit is actually 'self cleaning'.

The featured unit is available with single or dual switched proximity outputs with or with a proportional analogue current or voltage output for positioning or level measurement. Parameters can be set up by using push buttons on the housing (which can be locked out) or by connecting the sensor to a laptop or PC.
