The Aliveri plant is being constructed on the island of Evia, in eastern Greece. Rodax is a subsidiary of the energy, infrastructure and defense contractor, Metka.
The solution is based on ABB’s state-of-the-art System 800xA automation platform and includes its System 800xA High-Integrity SIL3-rated safety and protection system.
ABB is also responsible for the seamless integration of the gas and steam turbine control systems, being supplied separately through the turbine manufacturer, Alstom.
"Our ability to provide a fast, seamlessly integrated and highly flexible solution that meets the performance requirements of the customer underscores our track record as the world’s leading automation supplier to the power generation industry" says Franz-Josef Mengede, head of ABB’s global power generation business.
Owned by the Greek national utility, Public Power Corporation, Aliveri is part of its ongoing programme to replace aging plants with high efficiency and low emission units. Scheduled for completion in 2011, Aliveri will be among the most efficient gas-fired power plant in Greece.
