Protecting cables from a range of hazards

Swedish owned Roxtec's 'Comseal' provides a new method of sealing cables and pipes and is aimed at the control cabinet, generator, power convertor and enclosure market.
Roxtec's UK managing director Graham O'Hare said the Comseal has been specially developed to protect larger cables, particularly power cables from a range of hazards including fire, water, dust, explosion and vibration.

"Comseal has a number of key benefits and we are keen to explain these to electrical, mechanical and instrument engineers in a range of industries," he said. "Firstly it is efficient and time saving as it can seal a number of cables at once from two to 32 cables immediately slashing down on cost and labour time and limiting the disruption to the enclosure space. The second key benefit is its capacity as it can seal a variety of sized cables, from 3.5mm to 44mm, and this includes pre-terminated cables."
O'Hare said importantly for designers the Comseal aluminium frame is light and it also saves space because its Multidiameter (tm) modules are only 30mm in depth. The product is IP 55 rated and an Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) version is also available.
"In this recessionary period, manufacturers know that innovation is the key to survival," he said. "Comseal is a huge stride forward enabling engineers to innovate whilst reducing material and labour costs."
O'Hare said more and more industries are turning to Roxtec to protect their people, buildings and assets.
"We pride ourselves on a problem solving mentality," he said. "A wide range of industries are using our seals to protect their people, buildings and assets. We are actively seeking to work in our target sectors of oil and gas, construction, power generation, telecoms, OEM and marine. Roxtec has tremendous solutions to improving safety as well as ensuring buildings and rooms are airtight."
