Axair Fans UK manufactures ATEX Category 3 Zone 2 plastic centrifugal fans that can handle corrosive chemical fumes.

Corrosion resistant ATEX fans
Two ranges are available in a total of nine basic sizes for ATEX purposes, which include a wide variety of motor types, rated outputs, and speeds. The Axair SA range is designed to provide air flow rates up to 10,000m³/h for systems that create moderate pressure loss, whereas the Axair STA range has lower flow characteristics but can be applied to systems demanding up to 2000pascals static pressure.
In general the fans comply with ATEX code Ex II 3G II T3. The maximum motor surface temperature T3 (200°C) will prevent spontaneous combustion of all but a small number of highly volatile gasses in T4 to T6 temperature class.
The plastic components of Axair SA and STA fans are moulded in semi-conducting polypropylene, which means that any localised build-up of static electricity will be tracked to earth through the carbon-loaded moulding material.
As a further measure towards eliminating static discharge or mechanical contact between moving and static components the clearance dimensions between them are rigorously controlled both by design and in practice through the dimensional consistency of moulded fan components.
In general Axair manufactured ATEX fans are strong and dimensionally consistent through being moulded. They have circular inlet and discharge spigots that match standard ductwork diameters and are ‘O’ ring sealed between moulded components prevent the escape of fumes and explosive gasses in the air-stream.
For indoor installation and the handling of non-corrosive fumes Axair distributes ATEX Category 2 (Zone 1) fans selected from Sodeca CMP and CMR ranges in steel construction and Sodeca CMA in cast aluminium.
