The unit delivers a massive 30 joules of light energy from multiple xenon gas discharge tubes which is dispersed by a precision developed fresnal optic lens assembly. The fresnal lens is available in a range of colour options including red, blue, white, amber, yellow and green. The fresnal lens and xenon tubes are protected by a toughened bora silicate well glass collar and a rugged stainless steel guard cage.

The VB3 provides a number of features that are not believed to be available in a single unit elsewhere; these include the provision of an integral high power alarm tone generator which is capable of driving an external loudspeaker 7.5Watts rated allowing typical broadcast sound pressure levels in excess of 110dBA.

A range of alarm tone cadences are pre programmed into the VB3 and tamper proof switch selections allow the engineer to easily align alarm type versus specification without recourse to manufacturer.

Further features include a telephone ringing detector that automatically controls the flashing beacon / sounder when connected to nominated telephone subscriber instruments.

The VB3 is equipped with multiple terminal sets enabling convenient field cable loop -through thereby obviating additional ATEX junction boxes. Cable entry in to the VB3 Beacon is via four M20 isometric gland penetrations; protective earth termination points are provided both on the external and internal sides of the enclosure.
