The Halul export and storage facility, located 52 nautical miles northeast of Doha, has formed a key part of Qatar’s oil and gas industry since 1965.

Kentz’s scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the Internet Protocol (IP) based integrated security and telecom systems. This includes the public address and general alarm system (PA/GA), CCTV, access control and perimeter intruder detection. The systems at Halul will integrate with existing fire and gas systems, interface with QP’s IT Server and also communicate with QP’s centralised security Centre in Doha.

Kentz has been active in Qatar since 1997 and has executed a number of projects on Halul Island since 2001. The project management and engineering teams have been mobilised in Doha and site teams are expected to be mobilised to site in the near future. The contract is due to be completed in August 2012.

Dr Hugh O’Donnell, the chief executive of Kentz commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded further work by Qatar Petroleum at Halul Island. Kentz has operated in the Middle East for over 30 years and has an excellent track record of delivery in remote and environmentally sensitive areas. We look forward to completing another successful project with one of our core clients.”
