Roxtec has secured another major deal in the oil and gas sector to supply its cable seals to an upgrade of the UK’s most established Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Receiving Terminal on the Isle of Grain in Kent. The deal comes just a month after the UK operation of Swedish owned Roxtec announced another major contract with oil giant Agip KCO to supply onshore processing facilities at the Kashaghan oil field in the Caspian Sea.
The Isle of Grain contract will see Roxtec supply cable penetration seals for the £310m Phase 3 upgrade of the terminal. The project involves the building of a second jetty and the construction of two large Local Equipment Rooms (LER) which control the process plant which returns Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) back to Natural Gas (NG) before forwarding it to the National Grid. Isle of Grain has capacity to regassify one billion cubic feet of gas each day for the National Grid.
Roxtec’s UK managing director Graham O’Hare said the project demonstrates Roxtec’s growing presence in the oil and gas market and specifically downstream facilities.
"Roxtec has been used on the two LER buildings to safeguard against fire and blast for cables passing through the walls," he said. "This helps ensure the whole plant, personnel and expensive control equipment are properly protected through the life cycle of the plant. This is great showcase for our innovative multi cable transit seals."
"Roxtec is keen to work with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineers working in the energy sector wanting to protect cables and pipes at the point they enter a wall, cabinet or structure. Roxtec’s products are among the most advanced in the world and we can offer a bespoke service designing products to fit with customers’ specific requirements."
