Parker Racor achieve the RoSPA Gold standard
13 October 2010
Racor Filter Division Europe of Parker Hannifin is celebrating after winning a prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award 2010. The Gold Award was presented to the company at a ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel in recognition of its long-established occupational health and safety management systems and culture, which enables it to maintain outstanding control of risks, ultimately eliminating errors, harm or loss.
The RoSPA Safety Awards have recognised health and safety success for over 50 years. Their goal is both to reduce the number of accidents and cases of ill health at work, and to encourage organisations to develop robust health and safety management procedures.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s Awards Manager, said: "Parker Hannifin has shown a commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of its employees and others. Organisations which do this deserve to have such dedication recognised and that’s where the RoSPA Awards come in.
"As well as there being clear ethical reasons and legal requirements for good health and safety management, there is also a strong business case. RoSPA is delighted to honour organisations such as Parker Hannifin, which have demonstrated their work to improve performance in this sphere."
Ros O’Connor, Parker's ESH Coordinator, explained: "Health and Safety is an integral part of our business culture across the entire Parker organisation. Through worker involvement, all employees are committed to improving health and safety performance year on year. This is the first time that we have achieved the RoSPA Gold Award, which only goes to show the significant improvements made at our Dewsbury plant by all employees. Naturally, everyone is justly proud of last year’s performance and we are all looking forward to the challenges next year will bring’.
