TÜV Product Service launches CE Marking centre of excellence
29 November 2010
To mark 21 years in the business, TÜV Product Service has launched a CE Marking centre of excellence. As an accredited CE marking notified body, the dedicated TÜV team will test a wide range of industrial and consumer goods from its Warwickshire laboratories.
Jean-Louis Evans, managing director of TÜV Product Service, said: “The launch of our new CE Marking centre of excellence is a great way to formally celebrate the business’s growth over the last 21 years. Our success is testament to the huge amount of integrity and commitment that our staff have to get the job done right. We look forward to another 21 years of knowing that we do some good as we strive to make sure that what we all buy is safe and reliable.”
TÜV is renowned in the industry for its own stringent ‘TÜV octagon’ compliance mark. Over 29,000 TÜV octagon marks can be found on a variety of products, and companies that use it include Hewlett Packard, Black and Decker, Tandberg and Dyson. The TÜV octagon mark goes beyond the one-off type testing required by CE marking as a product must not only comply with the relevant standards, manufacturing facilities must also pass an annual audit and specific claims about the product’s performance must also be proven.
Evans continued: “The TÜV mark carries great credence as it is very tough to get and while UK industry uses it, consumers in Germany will actually think twice about buying a product that doesn’t have our octagon mark on it.”
TÜV SÜD Product Service was created by the German safety giant TÜV SÜD in 1989 and is now one of the world’s leading product testing experts with an international network of more than 15,000 auditors and engineers in 600 locations worldwide.
