Signal technology conforms to EU Machinery Directive

09 December 2010

Pfannenberg UK, the specialist for signal technology, has introduced new visual and audible signalling equipment that conforms to the new EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, which came into force on 01 January 2010.

The new Directive brings new mandatory safety standards and introduces new harmonised EN ISO 13849-1 and DIN IEC 62061 standards that replace and update the previous EN 954-1 standard.

The extensive family of audible and visual warning devices, which in general are self-monitoring and self-testing, have units that meet the different requirements for various safety levels defined in the Directive. They range from simple devices for stand-alone safety applications up to devices with complex functionality for more demanding safety environments. The new products enable the machine manufacturer to have the complete machine certified more easily and in a shorter time. The machine constructor will benefit from improved safety planning from the initial design stage onwards.
