Joint Industry Board

05 January 2011

The Joint Industry Board (JIB) will be promoting the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card.

Over 100,000 ECS cards are now held by a wide range of individuals across all sectors of the broad electrotechnical industry, including managers, engineers and technicians.
The Scheme has recently been modified to allow card holders to demonstrate their competence to work in a specific potentially explosive atmosphere by means of a suitable endorsement on the card, including CompEx and the IECEX Scheme etc.
The ECS is affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and provides the card holder with the means to assure customers of their competence.
An exciting new development currently underway will provide ‘smart’ ECS cards, which will allow much more information to be stored on the card.
