12 April 2011

Extronics exhibited its range of hazardous area equipment at Hannover Messe. Some of the products that the company showcased included the iCAM 501 zone 0 intrinsically safe digital camera - which they say is 'the perfect visualisation tool for use in hazardous areas'. The company adds that ATEX and IECEx certified, the iCAM501 can be used in all sectors of industry including Chemical & Pharmaceutical plants, Oil & Gas production platforms, Refineries and Mining to name but a few.

Equipped with its super bright 4 LED flash, anti shake technology and 3.1 mega pixel resolution, the iCAM501 provides high quality images in all Hazardous Area environments. Data transfer to any computer in the safe area is simple and easy to undertake via a USB port utilising Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) which is initiated automatically. The company also profiled the iWAP201A which they say further extends the Extronics range of wireless solutions and is an ‘ideal, low-cost method of creating wireless hotspots and point-to-point links in Zone 2 hazardous areas’.

Extronics Managing Director, John Hartley commented: "The iWAP201A fills an important role in the development of a complete range of wireless solutions for hazardous areas. This is a low-cost, easy-to-deploy unit which can be used either to create a wireless hotspot or a point-to-point link. It fits perfectly with our existing wireless ranges and offers customers a real alternative when unlocking data from hazardous areas."
