Mahshahar to build Iraqi pipelines
09 May 2011
Iraq's growing network of energy pipelines received a boost at the weekend with an announcement that specialist oil pipe manufacturer Mahshahar, based in Iran, is in talks with Iraq's Basra Investment Commission to build a Basra-based factory and warehouses - providing the Iraqi State Oil Company with custom-made oil pipes.
Head of Basra Investment Commission, Haidar Ali Fadhil, said talks were underway regarding building of the production facility, to international standards. He said the commission would provide land for the project, and accelerate license procedures. Both parties agreed to hold an expanded meeting with the Iraqi companies; Southern Oil Company, Southern Gas Company, Oil Pipelines Company, and Southern Refineries Company.
