2011 "Responsible Chemistry" awards

OMNOVA Solutions has been awarded the Safety Trophy for its « BEST » project in the context of the 2011 "Responsible Chemistry" awards organised by the French Regional Organisation of Chemistry- UIC IDF-Centre.

The Safety Trophy is given to a company that has achieved outstanding safety performance through innovation, and continuous improvement of its equipment and facilities.
OMNOVA Solutions appreciates this award all the more because it corresponds to its "zero risk" approach of accident prevention and safety which are a priority for the Company", stated Olivier Faussadier, General Manager of OMNOVA Solutions.
With a view to improving significantly the safety results on its sites, OMNOVA Solutions decided to implement, in addition to its local safety services, a specific action by creating a multifunctional team wholly dedicated to the safety of the employees.
To this end, the project entitled 'BEST' (Bâtir Ensemble la Sécurité au Travail: Building together a safety Workplace) was implemented at the French sites and has been running for several months with the support of both the Committee for Hygiene, Safety and Working Conditions (CHSW) and the General Management of the Company.
The multifunctional team consists of operators, technicians and managers from the production and employees from the technical and administrative services.
Representatives of the CHSW and of the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) departments were later integrated to the BEST teams.
"Our aim is that all our employees who work either at the plant or in the laboratories go back home in good heath. The company is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace. These measures are a further sign to our customers of our investment Responsible Care", added Olivier Faussadier.
The BEST project will continue within the company and the principles adopted by the whole of the personnel with coaching by the CHSW and SHE teams as advised by the BEST team.
With a view to establishing the rule that safety is an everyday concern of everyone, the company has implemented training entitled « Work in Safety » that will concern the whole personnel. Dedicated training of the managers will take place throughout 2012.
